Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and background?

I’m a current junior at Pitt studying Finance, Marketing, and Economics. I’m from New Jersey originally, so I’m a big New York sports fan. My dad’s love for Pittsburgh growing up (especially the Steelers) was a major factor that led me to go to school here. I love Pittsburgh as a city and everything that it stands for–hard work, grit, and pure energy. I’m very grateful for my experiences here, on and off campus, and I believe that GTE has been an awesome opportunity that has directly fed into my natural curiosity and eagerness to learn.

How did you hear about GTE, why did you want to work at GTE?

I heard about GTE through my business fraternity–I had a couple of brothers who interned at GTE and talked very highly of their experience. This past summer, I interned at a small private equity firm and I really enjoyed my time there. Private equity and the entire alternatives space was very appealing to me. I loved how entrepreneurial and motivating the work was, so I knew that I wanted another experience during my college career. I was able to learn more about search funds through Ryan Leckie–we had a very insightful conversation and I was immediately drawn to the concept. I believe it’s awesome what GTE does, and their direct impact on searchers resonated very well with me. They truly make a difference in the search fund community.

Can you briefly talk about your time at GTE?

Working at GTE has been awesome! I’ve been able to do a lot of high-value work that has had a big impact on my learning and professional mindset. I have also been able to embrace my creativity through a variety of tasks that directly correlate with my marketing background. This opportunity has enhanced my college experience and has shaped what I envision for the future of my career.

‍What is some advice you would give to future interns?

  • Come in ready to learn! The internship goes by quickly.
  • Make the most out of your experience.
  • Bring the energy!
  • Be a sponge–learn as much as you can about search and the entire private equity industry as a whole. It’s now a long-term goal of mine to work in this space as a result of this internship!
